“Sticky Fingers” for me too.
I once heard suggested...Steel Wheelchair Tour.
” The Wrecking Crew also played on recordings of The Monkees, The Turtles and numerous other 60s groups. “
The Wrecking Crew did not play on The Turtles’ recordings . Urban myth .
” Volman says he is gratified by the fact that the musicians in the group actually played on the track ( Happy Together ) instead of L.A. studio players such as the Wrecking Crew, who recorded the lion’s share of great pop records in the mid-’60s. I’m proud of all the records we made, but I’m most proud that the band really played the music, even as far back as It Ain’t Me Babe. When you hear You Showed Me or a beautiful song and record like Elenore [another hit for the band] explode out of the 5-inch speaker in your car that is what I am most proud of. I remember making every part of those records and how every member of the band was just a kid expressing himself. That, to me, is what made The Turtles such a great experience. We didn’t get caught up and overwhelmed by the need to be successful. We became successful by making our music in a very honest way.
What do you expect? Old folks like old music , and they’ve got the big bucks to fork out for those high-priced concert tickets. Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson both recently did concerts in my town, and from what I read they were both standing-room-only sold out. And nobody in the audience was under 50.
They would have returned to their original jobs, but the pyramids were finished.
