They could have saved a bundle by building this plant in Texas....

But we don’t know how much brown nosing jerry brown did in the form of tax breask and subsidies that were thrown at samsung....

Samsung already has a number of facilities in Austin.

Governor Moonbeam must have made one heck of a deal, as must have business hostile San Jose.

Plant is probably close to being fully automated. Once manufacturing reduces workforces down to maintaining the machines it is more cost effective to build them by the customers vs. shipping and paying the energy costs. This is the future.

That is some serious size.

They'll be sending all the semiconductors overseas anyway so at least they're near a shipping port.

ChangeS? for sure.

BART is finally getting built out to the South Bay to San Jose. .. and massive construction projects abound..

I got more crud floating around in the air from all the construction going down no more than a couple miles away, they should have a pool cleaning comp system.. or it could be the damned squirrels washing their nuts in my pool at night.. i never seen so much curd .. or I may need a new filter. :-}

Silicon chip fab requires a whole bunch of water - 4 million gallons a day, or more.

Where, pray tell, is San Jose going to get that water? They don’t have it now.

Better question, do the rate payers there know Samsung is going to get subsidized water from them?

There’s a reason Intel makes chips in Oregon, and it isn’t the cluster of top notch EE schools.

Gotta hand it to Jerry Brown - this was an excellent get.

The wafer fab I am sitting in right now is over 800,000 sq/ft. It's easy to get lost in and I've been here almost 18 years.

At least it's not a tramp. (Admit it. That was a straight line.)
