Passed a road in the hills of Virginia called “Dismal Hollow Road.”
I can just imagine the fun realtors have trying to sell houses there.
“There’s this great little place I’ve found for you”
“Oh really, where is it?”
“Dismal Hollow”
“It sounds lovely”
My mood is dismal this morning because I’ve just learned that the FBI lies to us. I’m shocked, I tell you. Just shocked. s/off
In before the ping.
My daughter lives on Windy Hollow Way and my son lives on Wise Hollow Road.
We have a Possum Hollow Road near me.
Obama’s regime has been dismal
Corrupt, socialistic, abysmal
When he speaks, I rebuke
As I cough, choke or puke
If the latter, I chug Pepto-Bismol
Back when Rev Wright was in the news, I learned that the black churches are not part of the solution. Their behavior now with canonizing Trayvon is doing nothing to change my opinion of them.
Y’all are mispronouncing them. They’re hollers.

I was always intrigued by the “Great Dismal Swamp” in Suffolk. Apparently it was the scene of quite a battle during the Civil War. And I think I read that some of the drug dealers in Norfolk area used to take street dealers who wouldn’t pay up to Great Dismal, and they were never heard from again. Not certain how true that was, but it certainly did provide an even more scary view of it.
I used to see signs for it when I went to Roanoke Rapids, NC on business.
I've been back 2 days, and the song from Jaws echoes in my mind:
SHOW me the way to go home,
I'm tired and I wanna go to bed
I had a little drink about an hour ago
and it's gone right to my head.
Wherever I may roam
by Land or Sea or Foam,
you can always hear me singing this song;
Show me the way to go home.
“So, where does xsex shop fer bathing suites?”
“Oh, de shop on-line, or at dismall, or at dat mall, or at de udder mall.”
VA Beach was fun for us last week. Wouldn’t want to live there and deal with driving through the HRBT every day. Like a bunch of Yinzers, slowing down before the tunnel for no reason and causing traffic backups!
I only knew that song from hearing Lister sing it on Red Dwarf in “Thanks for the Memory.”
