Many years ago when I was fishing commercially I got to know some of the shrimpers from the Backmann Brothers Seafood fleet. I could listen to those guys talk by the hour, they were fluent and eloquent, smart and informed.
They ran tight boats, clean and shiny, and they worked hard.
I was just a kid, didn't know I was seeing the last of a thoroughbred clan.
