Puppy Found With Gang Tattoo On His Belly Looking For A Home

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A nine-month-old abandoned puppy with gang writing tattooed on his belly is looking for a home.

The American pit bull terrier mixed named Petey was found with his tail broken in three places and tied to a pole outside of a doughnut shop in the city of Lomita.

A senior citizen found Petey and had him de-wormed, vaccinated, and microchipped despite being on a fixed income, according to affiliates of ROMP Rescue, a Van Nuys-based non-profit that helps transition animals out of local shelters and into permanent homes.

Animal advocate Erica told CBS2 that Petey will likely have to be placed in a secure home where rival gangs will not use him as a payback.

It’s believed that Petey was being groomed by local gang members to be a fighting pit bull, according to Erica.

For adoption and other information on Petey, visit the ROMP Rescue website.

He’s a good looking boy, but look at his wary eyes. Other than that he looks a lot like my bully.
Cretins who fight and abuse dogs should be put in chain gangs, the dirty SOBs (sons of Barak). When they get through with a full day of road work, match them off in a ring— until one is down and out bleeding.
When they’ve served their sentences, dump them in front of their cribs.

‘Petey’ may be an American bulldog, and not an American pit bull terrier.

He might be a nice dog, but I don’t trust dogs that look like Petey. My ex had an American Bulldog, and it got way too aggressive and was put down. It’s sad, but a dog like that could kill a child or elderly person if it got of the leash.

Americans require a firm hand, you’re right there. Especially the Johnson variety. Mine is a Scott, which I believe ‘Petey’ may be. The Johnson’s look like English bulls on steroids. Scott’s are lithe and agile. And exciteable. My nickname for him is ‘Spazmatic.’
A little yappy dog incredibly attacked him while on his leash in the street. He pinned it. That’s all. The ‘Little Rascals’ seemed to coexist OK with their bulldog mascot, as did Helen Keller and Teddy Roosevelt. And RCA Victrola.
Dogs generally are like computers: GIGO. MHO.

My ex's looked a lot like the following photo.(a little thicker though) She was not a good disciplinarian and worked a lot of hours.

A good deal of the problem is (again IMHO) the ‘bully breeds’: Staffordshire, bull terrier, pit bull terrier and the bulldogs are “labor intensive, with the gangsta s***heads paying them the exact opposite kind of attention they require.
I have admitted here in the past that I have come to close to some of these benighted creatures so that I was close to popping a thumbsnap. Some of them might require shooting, and it might be doing them a favor.
All responsible owners ask is that the public not smear us with the same brush.

PS my spouse has a severe disability and is pretty much housebound. With ‘Spazmatic’ and his mastiff girlfriend manning the homefront, I don’t worry about home invasions.
Thanks for the photo. td

I hope he gets a good home. He looks a lot like one that has adopted our family, my wife’s shy cat, and her Chihuahua. He gets neutered and his shots next week.

What “wary”?

His eyes and ears are soft and his submissive ‘smile’ is ridiculously obvious.

There would be a lot more white showing if he was wary and his posture/body language would not be so open and relaxed.

If anything, he’s absolutely *not* “wary”.
