LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) A nine-month-old abandoned puppy with gang writing tattooed on his belly is looking for a home.
The American pit bull terrier mixed named Petey was found with his tail broken in three places and tied to a pole outside of a doughnut shop in the city of Lomita.
A senior citizen found Petey and had him de-wormed, vaccinated, and microchipped despite being on a fixed income, according to affiliates of ROMP Rescue, a Van Nuys-based non-profit that helps transition animals out of local shelters and into permanent homes.
Animal advocate Erica told CBS2 that Petey will likely have to be placed in a secure home where rival gangs will not use him as a payback.
Its believed that Petey was being groomed by local gang members to be a fighting pit bull, according to Erica.

Call Caesar.
A while back, I was living in a house where the owner had a pit bull. (A pink nosed pit.) He was the sweetest dog. Wouldn't hurt anyone.
He even got along with my sometimes skittish cat. She must have sensed his gentle nature, because she would never try to run/hide from him. They used to sit either nose to nose, or next to each other in the kitchen. It was so cute.
Sadly the last I heard of this dog was that someone had stolen him from his yard.
(Just breaks my heart to think that probably, some POS dog fighting people took him.)
Anyway, if I had a yard, time, and could afford it, I'd adopt a "bully" dog. They are great.
(Also, for the most part, people stay away from your house if you have one, or more, of these dogs. I saw many people cross the street, rather than walk by the dog's fenced in yard, at my old house.)
My neighbor had a black Chowchow. They are notorius for being biters, but this guy was a real sweetie.
I would lean over the fence and he would give me a kiss on the cheek.
