Crime Story - Mike Torello (Dennis Farina) says, "It's dead!"

The shootout with Luca in the streets of Las Vegas in the last episode of Season 1 was awesome, but I can't find the clip.

‘Crime Story’, Williams.

Superb period crime drama set in Chicago in the 1960s. Then shifted off to Las Vegas.

Series was produced by Michael Mann. After ‘Miami Vice’.

What a stupid move.

Speaking of which, didn't he, ex-cop and all, try to take a pistol onto a commercial flight?

Being that it was about Pittsburgh and I’m from Southwestern Pa, Striking Distance is a favorite movie of mine. He had a great line in it when asked if he was going to be the next police chief:

“Not me, kid. I’m just a Larimer Avenue dago.”

I had dinner one night with Abe Vigoda and his wife..it was a hoot. In 1980, I was in New Orleans for a convention, and the then-wife and I went to K-Paul's for dinner. It had just recently opened..and become wildly popular..everyoen wanted to eat blackened redfish. The place didn't take reservations..it opened for dinner at 7..and people started lining up at 3PM to get in..so we finally get inside..we're TOLD there are no tables for 2 to be had...but we can eat with another couple at a bigger table...we figured why not, and thus, we ended up eating with Abe and his wife. Absolutely fantastic evening...he is a delightful, and very funny guy.. And I also got introduced that night to "cajun martinis" which are lethal. K-Paul's served them in Mason jars, with jalapeno peppers instead of olives..

Apropos of nothing...some time back, at a large police convention, they asked them what was their favorite cop TV show..everyone figured CHIPS, or Law & Order, or even COPS would win..but "Barney Miller" won hands down.. Vigoda was telling us Jack Soo stories most of the evening..Soo had died not long before..he said that Soo would crack up the cast and crew...they often had to do multiple takes..

I thought he played a great role in the Chuck Norris film “Code of Silence”.

RIP.

I meant to watch ‘Get Shorty’ again, when James Gandolfini died. I guess I’ll have to watch it tonight.

I had forgotten he was in Midnight Run, probably because I didn’t know who he was at the time.

That was a brilliantly acted movie wasn’t it?

“Well I’ve got two words for you!”..ha!

I'd put the premiere episode of 'Crime Story' up against any 1st run movie in the theaters.

First season of the show was incredible. Probably some of the best dramatic TV put out in the 80s. Then, I think the writers changed.....it quickly went in the tank.

They recently released the entire season on DVD. I picked it up and watched it. Still think it's great. Great sets, great costumes, great cars!

A lot of the old cast and crew of ‘Crime Story’ are still around

Running gag between Mrs WBill and I...... "Yeah, but was (so-and-so) in Crime Story???" If you look at the list of actors appearing in it, it reads like a Hollywood Phone Book.

The Comcast guy? Verizon users can breathe easily now.

In the commercials Farina seemed like he was ready to beat them with a tire iron and rip out their Fios systems with his own bare hands.

Seriously, though, he was a compelling actor who did good work, and didn't seem like a jerk. Rent Luck the "doomed HBO series" and see if you like it.

A former Chicago policeman, too.

It was thought that this song being on CRIME STORY would give Del Shannon a “comeback”. The he committed suicide.

I watched Crime Story religiously. A great show that unfortunately lasted only two years. Both seasons ended with cliffhanger episodes.

Couldn't sleep Saturday night so I turned on cable and stumbled onto the movie, "Bottle Shock", with Farina and Alan Rickman. It was a great movie that is not very well known. Farina was stellar, as always.

RIP.
