We live right in the middle of the city, right next to a golf course. We have squirrels, possums, and tree rats, tons of them. We also have a bug man that will remove possums and rats from our attic since they continually break into the top of the house one way or another. It is a nightmare.

It was pretty crazy here for a while, especially when the DNR-libs forbade us to shoot them.
[as if that stopped some of the farmers at all]

Normally, my dad had a .308 slung on him all the time but he was just checking the deer corn cribs and didn’t put it on.

They came over the ridge and started stalking him.

He *knew* if he turned his back to run, he was a dead man.

So, he walked backwards down a very stony mountainside for about a hundred yards to his parked truck.

As soon as he opened the door and slid the rifle out, they took off.

They knew what a gun was.

It was one of the few times I’d ever seen him truly scared.
[the other involved him trying to beat me for something unwarranted and my Dobermann] LOL

These damned things are -smart- as coyotes and fearless as wolves.

Bad combination.

When they “allowed” legal shooting, they coyotes pretty much vanished from the area.

I still see them run over on I-70 sometimes.

The first one I saw squashed, I thought it was somebody’s pet GSD on the shoulder.

They’re -that- big.

I still ‘jack light’ the whole fenced backyard before I let the dogs out at night and have a gun by the door...just in case.
