Cruz has not slowed down one bit since taking office.

He is the best senator in my lifetime. Easily, I think.

He is concerned only with the people who sent him to Washington. God bless him, and Mike Lee. Bob

Maybe a close second to Sen. Jesse Helms. But if he keeps this up, he will be.

Boner is real brave when he brags about voting to repeal Obamacare when it is a fruitless exercise, but faced with a concrete proposal he craps his pants, what a fraud

House Republicans have never zeroed out any budget item. They wouldn't even do it in 1995, when they had a huge head of steam and great poll numbers.

But Cruz is right - in theory.

I'm not so sure. If Republicans put a stick in the wheel of the cart before it goes over the cliff, then they will be blamed for the subsequent wreck.

On the other hand, if they sit back and let the train wreck happen, then they could pick up enough clout in the next election to force an outright repeal.

If I were a Democrat I would be praying for defunding. I wouldn't vote for it. But I would pray for it. It may be the last chance for the Dems to escape the blame for the mess coming down the pike.

If defunding occurs I'm sure the MSM will know who to blame! They will start screaming as soon as the bill gets out of committee. In the eyes of the MSM, from that point forward, the Republicans would be to blame if your Mom's cake fell in the oven.

Right now the Republicans have “clean hands”. Nobody from the Republican side of the aisle voted for this monstrosity. Once they diddle with the funding, then their fingerprints will be on it and they will get the blame.

Can’t you hear Obama claiming that the exchanges would have been just fine if they had had the money to pull it off? Can’t you imagine him cynically choosing to pull the funds in a way that guarantees finger pointing? Wise up folks. This is the guy who shut down White House tours in order to make a point.

Helms was truly great.

But I think Cruz is better. Helms was smart, tough and wily. But Cruz is brilliant, fearless and at times winsome.

Did you happen to see any news accounts of his speech to the New York GOP? Apparently after it, attendees were falling all over themselves handing out 5 and 6 digit checks to the State GOP Chair (who is probably a big time “moderate”!). So, basically, Cruz set the GOP in New York (!) on fire.

Helms never really did that. He had some national networking, and used it effectively. But I think Cruz has a broader appeal. Perhaps approaching Reagan....though no one will be as winsome as REagan.

But bottom line, he’s amazing and would that Helms were still around to help!

It doesn't matter what the Pubbies do. The MSM is going to blame the eventual failure of Obamacare on them anyway. Whether they muster the votes to defund it, or let if fall under its own weight, won't have a single thing to do with the liberal talking points afterwards.

We conservatives are the only ones who are going to know what really happened, and the Dems won't get an ounce of blame for the wanton destruction and economic devastation to come.

I'd like to see the Repukes repeal Obamacare after taking both houses of Congress, but I'm fresh out of optimism on that. I think the political process has become so fubar, that nothing except an historic 'reset' is going to fix it.

Glad to hear the report on Ted Cruz. He's a great patriot and a credit to Texas. Things look pretty bleak for us now.

But Sen. Helms came on the scene when the GOP was even more outnumbered. He stopped so much really, really bad legislation against all odds: UN Treaties, giveaways to union thugs, destruction of national sovereignty, etc. He also paved the way for Ronald Reagan more than any other elected official.

I know, different times and different styles. I'm very hopeful that Ted Cruz will be to our era what Jesse Helms was to his.

Yeah, me too. Orrin Hatch was a real fire brand conservative when he went to Washington in 1976, my first presidential election. He did a lot to help Sen. Helms hold the fort against Democrat super majorities. He is probably still better than 75% of the members in the U.S. Senate, but he's fallen a long way from where he once was.

That is one reason I admire Sen. Helms so much. He is one of the few who actually got better with age and seniority. It would be wonderful to see Sen. Cruz do the same.

That, sir, is a great point.

And not only that, but the GOP had less of a conservative wing in it then than it does now.....
