When I’m working in someone’s house, I expect that they will keep their dog(s) from attacking me, wrecking the work area or carrying off my tools-that is only reasonable. But I do not ever try to tell them HOW they will accomplish that-if I did, it would be the last time I ever did work for them again or even got a referral-it is their property, and their pet-not mine. I always give my customer the utmost respect, no matter what I may think-they are paying me, after all.

I expect the same consideration from anyone who works at my home, no exceptions-they had better not forget that I’m the customer-the one who writes the check. There are plenty of small companies around that do not dictate to customers, and I’d rather give my business to a fellow small contractor, anyway-but that is just me.

I do realize I think that way because I work for myself, and most businesses out here are contract labor, run by one or two people out of their homes, making their own work rules, just like I do.

Large companies must have plans to ensure employee safety.

Things happen. People sue.

It is perfectly rational to me.
