Actually, my preference would be for Tom Hanks to play a ruthless, sadistic, sociopath in any movie. It would be such a departure from his norm, and I’m sure he would do it exceptionally well.

I thought that he was a pretty good bad guy in Broken Arrow. There is something very disturbing about someone seeming so happy to be bad - he was very menacing.

Given the right material and right role, he CAN act (he did well in “Face/Off.”) But if he was to have played a villain, the Javier Bardem role was probably the one he should’ve played.
