I understand. I meant that even with that big of a door, I would prefer to to look like something other than one big plain panel.
we are looking for more storage space, and he has done that with this design, he’s enlarged the island to have storage below on both front and back. now there is an overhang and no storage on the side facing away from the sink. We never used it as a breakfast bar, but that was what it was intended to be with space for the stools etc on that side, so it’s just wasted space now. on the opposing wall next to the double wall oven, is a cabinet above a counter and open space below. we did not think to have that closed in and a cabinet put there when we bought the house orginally. i guess the idea there is to have an office in the kitchen with a chair there, bc that’s where the phone is. Now again, it’s open wasted space. we never put a chair there. That will be a cabinet in the new kitchen. he is going to have one of the cabinets next to the sink pull out with trash containers in there. now that will consternate Jules to no end, bc he LOVES the trash can, and invariably has to be yelled at once per day to get off of it!
