You have to xeroscape out there to have anything grow in that hardy environment.

Not quite xeriscape-just drought tolerant-the hill country alternates wet cycles with dry cycles, depending on the jet stream and sun cycle, so I’m told. We are in what appears to be the last part of a dry period. Most of the native plants are not cacti or succulents, except for the Opuntia/prickly pear.
