Of course it happens on earth too. There exist within the crust proof of magnetic pole shifts. But these pole shifts on earth are seperated by much monger durations (25,000 to 30,000 years) and tend to be of a more catastrophic nature. Happens, Happened, errr....I can't seem to remember the last time.
I must be getting old.
