It was trio of horror short stories, similar to the “Tales From The Crypt” stories.

She received this little African warrior statue that came to life when she removed the belly chain, which, of course, she was instructed not to do.

Through the course of it, she had phone calls from her overbearing mother, getting on her nerves.. the statue came to life and pursued her relentlessly through the apartment.

It was both comical and scary as hell at the same time (for a kid, anyway).

Not Oscar-winning material for sure, but it’s still an enjoyable watch.

Funny though... I don’t remember what the other two vignettes were about...only that one. Guess it had an impact on me.

I remember seeing a similar kind of movie called “Nightmares” where in one of the stories a young Emillo Estevez is trapped in a video game.

It starts at time 45:50 in the Trilogy of Terror youtube. The other two stories are ok. This was the era of a lot of quality made-for-tv-movies.
