Perquisite

Noun

1. A payment or profit received in addition to a regular wage or salary, especially a benefit expected as one's due. See Synonyms at right.
2. A tip; a gratuity.
3. Something claimed as an exclusive right: "Politics was the perquisite of the upper class" (Richard B. Sewall).

One of my pet peeves is people who abbreviate “Perquisite” as “Perk”.

Apparently a Perquisite of serving in Congress is not being forced to abide by same laws as the rest of us (Obamacare) despite all measures taken to avoid such a situation (Grassley’s Amendment).

Perquisite

According to The Atkinsonville Daily Wind and Journal someone broke into the FeelRite Pharmacy and stolt all the Perquisite pills. The owner felt so bad about it he had to spend a month in the Bahamas relaxing.

So I guess you’re right, perquisite is like a side benefit.
