If some conservative politician or celebrity complained of ill-treatment when trying to purchase a $35,000 purse, can you imagine the mockery that would have ensued? What if - for example - Romney's wife made the same complaint? Half the newspapers in the country would be mocking her for her extravagance, lack of perspective, and sense of entitlement.
