The key is the participation of young Americans. The Obama administration needs to convince young people, who are on average less likely to make use of medical services and therefore are cheaper to insure, to sign up for coverage on the superstore-like exchanges in order to balance out the older or sicker patients more likely to sign up for health insurance as soon as possible. Their insurance premiums are meant to cover the big bills for the relatively small number of sick people, allowing for theoretically affordable plans to be offered to all enrollees. The administrations fear is that young adults will continue to go uninsured despite the number of options the Affordable Care Act is creating.

The age 26 rule should be abolished. If you’re old enough to buy booze or a handgun, you’re old enough to deal with the rest of the crap. Universities and grad schools offer student health insurance plans for around $2,000 per year.
Maybe it’s because the 47% is getting their health coverage from the welfare system?
Obama touts covering young people on their parent’s plans, but doesn’t say that the employer doesn’t have to pay for it. The plans will be so expensive that the employee can’t afford it and the family can’t go to the exchange, so some think employees will ask their employers to just drop the coverage altogether.

If he sold everyone on staying on your parents policy until 26, then how can he get young single healthy 18 to 25 year olds to sign up on healthcare exchanges for insurance?
Well I guess that answer is obvious. Force the parents onto the exchanges as well.
And most Republicans tend to have jobs with insurance.
