while we’re at it, my dtrs Acer has the fbi virus....I’ll probably take it in today to get fixed....I can’t get past safe mode...it keeps trying to start, then start again, but nothing happens....

Do you have a recovery partition? If you do and do not need to recover data off the machine just restore the operating system on your c drive. This should take anywhere from 10-20 minutes but remember all data will be lost after this operation.

What do you mean by that? You select "safe mode" and it doesn't work (continuous boot loop)? Or "safe mode" is the ONLY mode that works (anything else results in continuous boot loop)?
