Well, I didn't have a mortar/pestle, and I thought about Mr. Stevia plant and needing to crush it's leaves and I've got to start growing herbs of which I have none. Have no idea how to dry herbs. That's one more thing to learn.

Marcella, if you don't have a mortar and a pestle, you can use a big spoon to put the stuff in, and with a smaller spoon crush it, or you can even use a ceramic or stainless bowl (round bottomed like a mixing bowl), and crush the stuff with a plastic glass..like a six ounce glass... or if you have one of those wooden ravioli makng thingies, that works, too for crushing.

JRandom might know the actual proper name for the wooden ravioli making thingie..It's shaped kinda like a pestle.

You can dry them in a pillowcase in the clothes dryer.. just kidding..

I think some people do it in their pilot light oven, their dehydrator, or if it's hotter than heck, set them in the inside ledge behind the back seat of their car.

I have a giant herb drying rack above my kitchen table..They were popular in the 70's. It has wire hooks over the wooden cross pieces and you can rubber band or twist tie the bunches of herbs, and hang them (upside down) on the hooks..

Heck, you could even clothespin those bunches of herbs to a clothes hanger if you wanted and hang it in a warm, dry spot...

Bundle them up, place them in a net bag, and hang them in your pantry ;)

You can also use a dehydrator. There are several types available.
