If there was no power, I wouldn't use up propane for a pressure canner when there is another option and it's a cheaper option that works. I'm always thinking with my Prepper mind, moving from normal like now to a time of no power. People who are not Preppers, may think I'm nuts but that's okay. I've been through enough hurricane aftermaths to know how life changes with no power.
After research for two days, I won't get a dehydrator or a pressure canner. I'm always considering a long term outage of power. I'll get a water bath canner and for any veggie that doesn't have enough acidity, I'll use the recipes I found at “National Center for Home Food Preservation” for pickling all veggies and using the water bath:

We are from the central gulf coast where we got hit every few years, so we keep lots of food and supplies on hand at all times. That way when someone yells "hurricane XXX is coming" we dont have to run out to the overcrowded stores looking for things that are not available.
Looks like we're fixing to get some rain, radar shows it coming in from the east.
