Asinine article that conveniently attaches crimes to any and all Shrines/Jesters

Just the perverted crimes they are caught at.

I was addressing peyton randolphs comment 'As for parties, the masonic brothers who have been around for “many years” are typically in their 60s, 70s, and 80s.'

But if you like I could point you to a freemason information site that does not back away from the problem of Shriners/Jesters identifying with Freemasons.

I’m a Mason.

What is it you find useful?

The problem is that you’re smearing Freemasonry by association because of the very unmasonic acts of those in other bodies.

Most Freemasons are not Shriners. The Shriners were primarily founded for activities where alcohol could be served because masonic lodges are “dry.” Later, Shriners adopted a charitable purpose too as is demonstrated in their hospitals, etc. That a few of its members should go rogue doesn’t mean the entire organization is bad. And frankly, their “parties” look more like an AARP meeting than debauchery.

The Jesters are an invitation-only group of wealthy men, and are not recognized as masonic in most places, including where I am a Freemason. At one time, the Jesters had a good reputation, and even had a U.S. President (Ford) as a member before the organization went off the rails into what it has become today.

To play the smear by association game is easy. It is done every day by the Democrats to conservatives and libertarians. There are trolls and a few others who post things on Free Republic (before getting banned) that the overwhelming majority of FReepers oppose. Yet playing the smear by association game, you could just as easily be tagged as holding the beliefs simply by being a FReeper.

Let’s play another smear by association game to show how absurd it is. The Catholic Church has had a problem with gay and pedophile priests. The Knights of Columbus is affiliated with the Catholic Church. Following the smear by association rules, does that mean all men in the Knights of Columbus are gay pedophiles? Of course not. Nor are the Knights responsible for misconduct of those priests either.

Let go of the hate. Freemasonry is filled with good men striving to be better. A few bad apples should not be used to tarnish any organization.
