Go read a better written story. His defense lawyer screwed him into a plea deal. They told him if he didn't take it he'd spend 20 years in jail. They wouldn't even let him talk to his parents before he agreed. He's been out of jail for a few years and got his conviction legally overturned by the courts. As for DNA he had sex but it was consensual.

The story makes the young woman out to be almost a hero. She “recanted” her accusation. They don’t mention what you wrote, that she was caught. She should do twice whatever he served.
