So, I was at a Labor Day barbecue at the home of a guy I have known since we were 12. He knows that we are on opposite ends of the political spectrum, and most of the time we avoid talking politics. Apparently, he couldn’t stand it any more, and he decides to go here:
“I know you’re a conservative, but even you have to admit that George Zimmerman got away with murder.”
He was quite surprised to hear otherwise. The entire basis of his argument was that Zimmerman had a gun, Trayvon didn’t; Trayvon got shot to death, therefore—murder.
I was amazed to hear how little he actually knew about the case. Didn’t follow the trial. Didn’t hear the testimony of that excellent (computer guy) witness who saw Trayvon on top of George. Didn’t hear any of the brilliance of Trayvon’s lady friend. Knew nothing of the forensics expert who said the blood drops on Trayvon’s shirt could not have landed the way they did if he had been standing up, etc, etc.
When Rush brags that he has never lost a debate with a liberal, he really isn’t bragging. It’s always a battle between hard facts, statistics and evidence vs. generalities, anecdotes, and feelings. I easily won my debate but lost a “friend.” Good riddance.!

You’re kidding? he was POd bc you were better informed and RIGHT? couldn’t admit his ignorance?? seriously. there is something wrong with them. they live in an alternative universe. i know i am obsessed with Atlas Shrugged these days, but that’s exactly how Dagny, Hank and Francisco felt about their peers. I am about halfway through now. i don’t want this book to ever end.
