In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

honcho (HAWN-choh)
noun: One who is in charge of a situation; leader; boss.
verb tr.: To organize, manage, or lead a project, event, etc.

Example sentence:
“The three head honchos are the recipients of the Best CEO Award.”
--Cool Heads and Calm Nerves at the Helm; The Business Times (Singapore); Aug 12, 2013.

Etymology:
From Japanese hancho, from han (squad) + cho (chief). Earliest documented use: 1947.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

My dear mother-in-law lives near the lovely small town of Honcho, TX.

Well, not really.

Neither Castroville nor Medina is nothing like Honcho, TX, and nothing in Texas is really quite “near” anything else, and the town ain’t quite so lovely as all that ....

But there are a boatload of deers there!

I’m spending the day for myself-my birthday-but it is too warm to be in the woods all day...

The G8 is certainly showing
For a Russian, Putin is neat-
While Vlad doesn’t mince words
Obama pouts and stamps his feet

Even worse, he makes speeches
About some imaginary “right”
He attributes to homosexuals-
In Russia, that isn’t bright

He might do well to remember
Russia is none of his concern-
Putin makes him look stupid
But still he doesn’t learn...

Oops-deleted the wrong verse...

The G8 is certainly showing
For a Russian, Putin is neat-
While Vlad is a real honcho
Obama pouts and stamps his feet

Even worse, he makes speeches
About some imaginary “right”
He attributes to homosexuals-
In Russia, that isn’t bright

He might do well to remember
Russia is none of his concern-
Putin makes him look stupid
But still he doesn’t learn...

I am drooling over the chocolate on that cake. Guess I’d better get something healthy to eat before I cave in and eat your birthday cake.
