A recently closed restaurant in Texas is claiming that it had nothing to do with an angrily worded sign in which area residents are not portrayed flatteringly. But some people believe the eatery is only distancing itself from the sign because an attempt at humor backfired.

After all, the New Jersey state bird is the upraised middle finger.
“You got a problem with that? Hey, I’m talking to you!!”
I think of the closing monologue from “Goodfellas”....
“Can’t even get decent food - right after I got here, I ordered some spaghetti with marinara sauce, and I got egg noodles and ketchup. I’m an average nobody... get to live the rest of my life like a schnook.”
Ha! Me too.
I’m called that here all the time
Southern hick
I love the abuse
Why complain
Ain’t that the truth.
Boil some water and put some noodles in it. After a little bit, throw a couple of noodles up against the wall. If they stick, the noodles are ready to eat.
(I hope that didn’t sound to redneck. :))
At first glance it does. However, the distortion from line-to-line is inconsistent with a paste-in.
IMHO the distortion is from a legitimate image. Lousy phone camera though, akin to the one I had on my last Blackberry. Looks a lot like the images I captured myself.
Based on all the reviews I read of the owner, the cries of ‘hack’ & ‘fake’ sound like damage control after a friend said, “You did WHAT????!!!”
Latest from their FB page:
Cara Russell: And you are obviously WRONG. Just been proven by a former employee that the owner posted it on the door as a joke, took a pic and sent it to all his employees then replaced it with the other sign everyone is claiming was used as a photoshop.
Oh...
That sure sounds like an MSNBC-Watching, DailyKos/AlterNet lib, doesn’t it!
Inspector Louie:And what brings you to Casablanca Rick? Embezzle the church funds and run off with a senators wife or did you commit murder’’? “I’d like to think you killed someone but thats the romantic in me’’. Rick: “I came for the waters’’
Louie: “Waters?’’ “What waters, we’re in the desert’’.
Rick;, “I guess I was misinformed’’.
Sshhh. They’re not supposed to know.
Wheeeew, that’s just plain nasty. Buh-bye!
Me too - over a hunnert or so...

In New Orleans, I asked for a plate of spaghetti ... the gum-smacking idiot copy of Flo the waittress, actually asked me: “Do you want the red sauce or the white?”
Sometimes the food is pretty good, usually it is average at best. The restaurants often close when their 3 year lease on profitability is up, or sell out to another family member and start again.
Rumor of money laundering, illegal immigration and fraud, employee abuse and tax dodging are common.
In Waxahachie TX there is a Sicilian restaurant that is quite good. Never ask his opinion on the other “Italian” restaurants in the area - you will get an earful. Of course, as I now know, there is a major difference between Sicilian and Italian cooking.
Let me guess they are liberals
There exist scant few devious militant activists there be amongst “gay “ republicans. This sure smells of the uber bitter “gay” leftist handbook.
Exactly.
You know? They were! I’ve forgotten now where I saw i a photo (if I see it again, I’ll come back & post a link) It was 5 or 6 guys- *definitely* lefties. Not flaming, really, but eh & hipster types. I’m sure they’d be much happier someplace other than (I forget if it was Abilene or) Amarillo. Maybe Frisco.
What was wrong with it?
Albanians ain’t Italians. Maybe 40 miles of water separate them. But they ain’t Italian.
But in many parts of the country they open Italian restaurants, much like Greeks did a few generations ago.
The younger children may get culturally assimilated, but it is off to a rocky start.
Greeks and Italians were Orthodox and Catholic, most Albanians that I know are Muslim or nothing.
Found it. (the photo of the proprietors)

This might be a hint, Safetgiver. Another might be their menu. Not that we are unsophisticated, but this is seriously pretentious *cuisine*. (I would NOT like to think of the tomatoes in my sauce being “hand crushed” by any of these guys. Ewww!)
