Not bad, but with a few caveats: is it available to civilians and are LE weapons full auto or semi?

We all must remember that the police are civilians.

According to Wikipedia, there is a civilian version available for purchase in the US and Canada. It is the TC-21, the Tavor Carbine 21 meant for civilian and police use. It is semi-auto.

Thanks. My concern is the police getting full auto which is denied to the general populace. Government shouldn’t create classes of Americans. Good for one, good for all.

Tavors look good but really are just an OK rifle with OK optics.

So many better choices out there.

Tavor is the official rifle of the Israeli IDF.

It is available in the US as civilian semi auto and should soon be available in select fire for LEO and Agency applications.

It is super compact and with a 16.5 barrel it just meets BATF minimum overall length requirements and even with an 18 in barrel it is shorter in overall length than an NFA 10 in barreled SBR AR-15, but with ballistics very comparable to a full sized 20” barrel M-16.

Tavor is very accurate and is comparable to Tier 1 AR-15/ M-4.

It's durability and reliability is on par with a Soviet Kalashnikov AKM.

The Tavor may be the best military autoloader in 5.56 available. It is arguably the best CQB assault rifle ever made while still being able to shoot accurately out to 500 yds with the long barrel. It was designed from the ground up for optical sighting devices as the primary aiming system

It would be my first choice for home defense or use for automobile self defense .

The thing just plain works

“..It would be my first choice for home defense or use for automobile self defense...’

You may like micro Tavor also known as X95. It will be made in 7.62 NATO in the near future(currently available in 5.56 only)
Tavor also can be converted to 9mm.

My only issue with your favorite gun is: available in select fire for LEO and Agency applications

I mean we are Americans and we have a 2nd Amendment and all.

I am beginning to suspect that some FReepers are actually IWI sales and/or marketing people.

So they tell me.

Should be available in 2 years , 3 months, 14 hours, 23 minutes and 37 seconds.

The 9 mm is a hoot but don't see the point in semi auto only except for the fact that it has serious entertainment value. In select fire it would be a super sub gun IMHO.

The bullpups in general have a reputation for a heavy trigger - one review I just watched put a new TAVOR trigger at 14 pounds. No thanks. At 600 rounds it was down a couple of pounds. Meh.

Very sharp design, though. It takes AR mags. Lots to like in a home-defense scenario - short and handy. Not really my cup of tea but stylish as all git out.

No affiliation with IWI on my end.

The Tavor sells itself , especially if you get a bit of T&E time on one.

One of these will probably be my next rifle. However, at the rate I’m saving, that will probably be several years out...

In 6-12 months the price should come down to the $1600 range and there should be an upgraded trigger option so waiting may not be such a bad thing.
