I got one a few months ago and ignored it. I got threatening notes everyday so I called my congressman’s office and told them it wasn’t a census year, I wasn’t filling out a government form providing very personal information. I wanted them to leave me alone. I never got another note or visit.
Just like anything, if enough people complain, they will perhaps do something about it.
Completely destroy the document. If they want the information bad enough to send someone around to hassle you, pretend to be an imbecile. DO NOT let them in the door, saying that your mommy says you are not supposed to talk to strangers. (Which sounds impressive if you are in your 40’s.)

“I got one back after the census. When I didn’t send it in they called repeatedly and threatened me with “fines”.”
I refused to fill out the rudimentary form beyond the items specifically mandated by the Constitution and sent it back. They sent a woman who appeared to be a temporary employee out to see me and I told her that the Census already had everything that I was legally obligated to give. She didn’t argue, just got back in her car and left.
If I ever receive one of these so-called American Community Surveys, I will definitely NOT throw it away. I won’t fill it out and I won’t send it in, but I would keep the 28-page form in case the goober-ment escalates the harassment.
A conservative group or attorney would probably want to see the forms, and the news media, etc. Just have it filed away if you have to challenge the intrusive SOBs at a future date and need the documentation.

Way back in 2010, nobody suspected that the IRS was executing a political hit on the Tea Party.
Back in 2010, nobody knew that the NSA was intercepting everybody’s metadata and preparing to record all Internet traffic.
Back in 2010, if you said the Census Bureau was targeting members of conservative organizations in order to accumulate data that could be used for political purposes, people would have called you paranoid.
In 2013, it seems plausible as Hell...
So, how about it, JimRob? Is there a way you could figure out if a disproportionate number of FReepers got this survey? I know I did.
People are mad that the IRS has been politicized. But if we were to generate data demonstrating that the Constitutional office of the Census Bureau has been coopted, citizen anger would be raised to a whole new level.
Well, I suppose you can post a thread and ask them.

George Will wrote a contrarian column supporting it in July this year.

I received one of these surveys years back. Somehow it was misplaced. Or maybe one of the dogs ate it I don’t recall. Anyway I received some home visits from census workers. I didn’t have time to answer questions that day so asked them to come back. In the meantime I picked up a short-form census at either the library or post office. I filled out the required information: Number of people living in home, names and ages. I popped it in the mail.
Another visit from the census taker. I told them I mailed it in so no need to re-do it and screw up their results. The census worker claimed they didn’t receive the form. I was appalled that it was lost in the mail. Never heard from them again.
A lot can happen to paperwork thrown on top of the “unread mail” pile. Some people keep their unread mail in a brown paper grocery bag. I also used to keep paper and cardboard that needed to be taken to the burn barrel in a brown paper bag. It would be easy to mistake the two.
I wouldn’t worry about it until the census workers come armed. At that point we will have more to worry about.
Never give the government any information. They will use it against us.
That should make them wonder a bit...

..last census worker I spoke to could hardly speak English, I asked him if he was properly vetted...he said “huh” “wat”..
I said until you are, your not getting anything.......he left
...got the phone call and then told them I don’t give out info over the phone...it stopped.

Wrote to Ed Royce... Got the standard political weasel non response response. Guess he goes in the RINO column for me!
