never tolerate a kid of theirs making a scene.
if in a high-class rest./party; we would have a babysitter (rarely ;) / friend of family watch us.

Wife and I quit eating out at sitdown, server type restaurants after an experience at a local Mexican Restaurant years ago. The parents had left the kid probably about five years old in the car as he was throwing tantrums, but the kid got out of the car, and came into the restaurant, found his parents, and continued to throw tantrums throughout the restaurant as his parents ignored him leaving the rest of us to suffer. Management at the restaurant did nothing. Didn’t even address the parents on the matter. We finally had our meals put into packaging, and left.
We go to a fast food type place once in awhile, but we always take out, and go home to eat.
Mrs. RQSR, and myself have professional training in the culinary arts that we’ve never applied to the industry other than as a young man I was a cook for a restaurant chain for a couple of years so we do enjoy our home cooked meals. We’d rather eat our own cookin’ at home anyway.
Appleby's and Golden Corral for the cited reason and because no restaurant is worth waiting in line to enter, not without a good jazz combo, anyway.
My young son didn’t like sitting down at meals at restaurants, but it isn’t acceptable to get up and walk around the table or visit others. So we’d ask for a high chair as long as he fit, instead of a booster. After that, we sat in a booth, kids against the wall.
They were kept busy with toys or books. And if one was too disruptive, one parent walked out with the child while the other finished the meal and paid.
People go out to eat to escape hectic work/family life and relax. Two toddlers running wild are contrary to what they’ve paid for.
Yo, bro, “family friendly” doesn’t mean your brood can disturb other patrons. There must be more to their side of the story.
Why would a restaurant and restaurant manager involve ‘police’ if it is simply asking them to leave? Esp. like this story that got into the ‘news’.
When I was very young I can remember going to restaurants with my family Parents Grandparents Aunts and Uncles etc. You didn't get out of your seat not without a good reason. The adults were in charge.
My daughter went to her first restaurant when she was just over a month old. She is now 18. When she was old enough to walk by herself we still did not allow her to wander around a restaurant. First its dangerous (Harried wait staff carrying large trays of hot food with sharp instruments and glasses and such is a recipe for disaster when a small one dashes in front of them.) Second its rude to the other patrons and the restaurant employees.
The problem with many parents today is they think their child is special and teach them to indulge every whim.
We have a saying in our family: "Its not always about you", there are others to consider.
Disrespect is ghetto terminology. I suspect these people have a ghetto outlook on life.

Taking into account their last name and how they are dressed I am going to guess they are really African not “African American” Many Africans I know would actually get dress up in their Sunday best, even their children to got out to eat. Everything from their haircuts, to the woman’s jewerly says that they don’t look “Ghetto”.
It could be they went to eat way too late and the kids were just too tired and fussed too much as we all know kids that age will do. This may have upset others in the place? Who knows
Don’t understand why the manager did not ask the parents to make the kids be more calm if that was the problem. Calling the cops strait up is a little harsh for just a tot throwing a tantrum.
I think the nicest thing anyone ever said to me in a restaurant was “Your daughter is so well behaved”
With that said...most restaurants have been wayyyyyy more tolerant of these kids than I can handle. I'd get more quality meal time at a zoo than most restaurants nowadays. I say kudos to Applebee's.
Children should be seen not heard... Ricky Bobby’s boys didn’t do to bad in the applebee, better than his father thanks to grandmother having already tuned up their act as proper.
Parents need to just remove the child to outside and discuss with them how to behave or tell the child they are leaving.
Here in DaBurgh, an Italian restaurant has banned kids under a certain age. I forget, its like 10 or 8 or something.
NO YOUNG KIDS, PERIOD.
Parents were “incensed.” They screamed to bloody high heaven!
“I love my little dear, and you should too. After all, these kids are YOUR future too.”
The owner hung tough and wouldn’t budge.
His business increased by a measurable 10%, so I hear.
At ages 3 and 1, maybe they should not be in a sit-down restaurant. My parents took us to drive-ins when we ate out (twice a month if that often).
We rarely took our three some place like that at that age. When they were older, it was a treat, and they were told before we went in if they misbehaved we would wait on everyone else in the car.
That’s too young to be in that kind of restaurant, and probably out too late.

First generation Việt kids are unbelievably well behaved and/or adaptable. Third generation kids are more American.
Applebee? Don’t they usually slow the kids down with food poisoning?
I once bought dessert for a couple and their 3 kids @ Applebees simply because their children were perfectly behaved little people.
It truly made me think there is some hope out there
My very long term friend became my ex-friend when he got married to a romanian woman and had kids. The kids were so unruly that every event was just painful. And the way his wife let the kids act in public was beyond believable.
I would have LOVED a place to ask us to leave.
Exactly, and it's wormed its way into everyday use. I hate it.
The thing is, if the kids had run in front of a waitress and caused her to drop hot food on them, the parents would be lining up to sue.
