nice in theory, i am skeptical of its practice.
i guess i don’t see preaching against sin as judging. how many Catholics believe that abortion and gay marriage are perfectly ok, the church needs to change with the times yada yada. LOTS. who is going to tell them that it’s SIN?
If they crack open a Bible, the Word is crystal clear about sin. This short attention span theater we live in doesn’t retain anything from sound bites anyway.
Catholics do not crack open Bibles, you know that! and they are dependent on the homily to direct them. Falls Churcher leftwing Catholics would walk out of St James when Father DeCelles would talk about the sin of abortion. i want to know how hobbes thinks that constituency is going to be made to see the light when we are preaching social justice and washing the feet of muslim girls.
rank and file Catholics, no. but the leftist clergy will seize on this to provide cover for what they have focused on all along-- social justice, with not a word to spare for aborted babies.

My former Bishop, Matthew Clark, witnessed gay “unions” inside his own diocese church. The Vatican called him out on it. He had to back away from them or lose his coveted position in the church. He backed away causing a schism that lost us many souls. A priest and nun formed a new church taking with them all the faithful they could. So much for that approach. Give an inch and you lose all credibility...it is a fine line. Pope Francis will learn the hard way.
