The speed limit was 70 so most likely the cop was in the 75 mph neighborhood. Hitting him in the rear at 100 mph would be similar to an accident at 25 mph.

Except he was traveling at 75 mph, and rear ended. Try controlling a car at 75 mph when you’ve been bumped.....think NASCAR.
