Activists opposed to Pamplona-like event.
The bulls are running across the United States, but they are having a hard time finding a place to run in the Bay Area.
An event styled after the famous "Running of the Bulls" in Pamplona, Spain, is trotting its way across the country following an Aug. 24 kickoff in Petersburg, Va. There's a Bay Area date scheduled for June 21, but there's one problem:
Nobody wants to host it -- and animal rights activists are "seeing red" over the whole idea, according to the San Francisco Examiner.
The Great Bull Run LLC is looking at venues between San Jose and Sacramento, though not in either of those cities -- and not in San Francisco, either, event organizer Rob Dickens told the newspaper.

But in the meantime, he's mad, too: San Francisco's Animal Control and Welfare Commission has asked him not to use the words "San Francisco" on any promotional materials, which has him stomping mad over 1st Amendment rights, the newspaper reported.
About 12,000 people attended the event's first day in Petersburg, with only 12 protesters. The bulls are well-taken care of, and not harmed, the organizer said.
There are 10 stops on the tour planned for the next 11 months, and only the Northern California stop has yet to secure a venue. Stops are planned for Atlanta on Oct. 19, Houston on Dec. 7, and southern California next year.

In a word, No. The squirrels would not appreciate getting their nuts stomped on. (But if it would clear the squirrels out of here) .. I might consider it. :-)
