Wonderful...he should have read the whole thing. He at least should have read Galt’s 3 hour (highjacked) television speech.

I had to skip sections of that part of the book. By the time we got there in the story, I couldn't read it again. Great Book. But Rand got a little repetitive. Was it stated 3 hours long on TV in the story? Or did it take 3 hours to read? I forget. :o)

5 or six times for me...the last few have been audiobooks...the speech is three hours. That reminds me, it’s time to read it again. Each time I read it it is a closer approximation of current reality.

My first reading was 1974 plus or minus a year or two as I recall. (My dog is named Dagny)

I've only read it 1.5 times. But I was 1 year old in 1974. So you got a head start. Lol

Was it stated 3 hours long on TV in the story?

Three hours in the book: "The blast that stopped him was a military march leaping suddenly forth from the radio receiver—the military march interrupted three hours ago, played by the familiar screeches of a studio record. "

Rand got a little repetitive.

well - maybe she thought people wouldn't get the point the first time around?

Looks like she was right, because here are, living the nightmare she warned us about if we didn't listen up and guard the gates.

Guess she should have been even MORE repetitive. She also wrapped it up in a great novel, hoping to hold our attention a bit longer.

And I don't think anyone has read her tome in 3 hours.

As aside: It's been in constant print for over 50 years. ONe of the best selling books in history. Guess it must be reasonably good?

My objection to Atlas Shrugged the first time around was that it was too overstated. My objection the last time I read it was that it was the perfect blueprint to inspire Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. The book has not changed, but my imagination has been broadened. I didn’t realize just how much socialist evil still existed even after the socialist catastrophes of National Socialist Germany and Soviet Socialist Russia.
