My experience wasn’t exactly the same as yours, but I did ask God in the name of Christ to be Born Again. The next day a tremendous sense of inner peace came over me and I knew my former sins no longer mattered and that I was forgiven.

I am not judging your experience...I know it was a good one. But there is a difference between being on the pathway to Salvation and knowing you are forgiven, and actually arriving home in salvation. I have found that it is as though I am a child again, so happy and finding so many things funny. Very heavy assaults on me that used to traumatize me now stirs laughter at times. Everyday is like a vacation ever since my salvation moment and pressure has no effect on me any longer. Things can be challenging at times, but smoothly sailed through now. Such a difference and I want it for others!
