PLANNING AHEAD!!
ME | SEPT. 30.2013 | swampsniper

Got to looking at my 6 year old hard worked sometimes abused Sony A200. Large areas on the body finish are worn slick from handling, got some dust in the viewfinder, probably over 100,000 shutter clicks, although it was never made to be a pro camera it has done the job.

It still works great, but one of these days it ain't gonna wake up!

Found another copy that seems to have spent it's life in a sealed airtight bag, bought it with an extended warranty, 30 months total coverage.

I have a little Nikon L110 but it's a toy, got to have some beef!

Most of my lenses are approaching the 30 year mark, no signs of quitting, and if you want to shoot Minolta lenses you need a Sony.

All the Nikon and Canon nuts will probably show up to comment, but I often take shots that they can’t even find and have fun doing it. I reserve the right to use a camera of MY choice, LOL

Is there a difference? Do people really have rumbles about cameras???

I thought a camera was a camera. Ya learn something new everyday I guess.

Yep. Just like Ford and Chevy.

Vast assortment of options!

There is a photography ping list a lot of folks don't know about so someone usually snarks about camera discussion threads.

FREE REPUBLIC is a family gathering for many of us, not just a political forum.

We just tell the SNARKERS to take a good laxative and chill out!

So this is one of those cameras where you can use old film-SLR lenses on it? I’ve got to look into that as I have several nice 1980s lenses that I have no use for, and I miss using them.

Sony DSLRS can mount the old Minolta autofocus lenses.

You go, Swampy!

I shoot Nikon, but I tell folks, “Cameras don’t take pictures, people take pictures....”

Someday I’ll find a way to post my stuff here so you all can see it...

Swampsniper takes the most beautiful wildlife pictures right in his own back yard and posts them here for our enjoyment. His images are clearer and show more detail than the naked eye can see. So, just chill out.

My two main film cameras were Minolta XG-1s and X-700s. I miss them, but not the film part.

Now I have a Nikon D80 that I bought new in 2006. Looking to upgrade, maybe to a Nikon D800.

If you’re looking to stick with your current lenses, I would suggest the Sony SLT-A37 as an entry level DSLR or the Sony SLT-A57 for a mid-range DSLR. Below are links to reviews for both.

Thank you for the ping.

Cool that you got a new camera, too. Can’t wait to see the pictures that you’ll be taking, and wish I had your talent and eye.

****************************************************
That’s too bad ,, I have a ton of manual focus Minolta MC and MD-Rokkors ,, including an 18mm and a 50 1.4 ... the AF lenses were made with the goal being light weight, especially in the portion of the optics that are moved by the focusing aparatus (to speed up autofocus and reduce battery consumption) and not best clarity. although the lenses for Minolta’s APS SLR were pretty good since they were designed as a system and not an “adaptation”.

Too small physically, I need a handle big enough to get a hold on!

I don't understand why everything has to be miniaturized.
