Word For The Day, Buctober 1, 2013
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
mickle [mik-uhl]
-adj
Archaic great, large, much
[ before 900; Middle English mikel < Old Norse mikill; replacing Middle English michel, Old English micel (see much); cognate with Old High German mihil, Gothic mikils, akin to Latin magnus, Greek mégas]
A little under the weather this morning, but here I am now.
Let’s Go Bucs!
Bucs in October! Woohooo
Mickle
great, large, much? Yeah, but that was back when a mickle was worth a mickle and you could get a good cigar and the politician attached to it for a mickle.
“Tis OK, global warming will warm you up.
St MicklesMass used to be a Christian celebration. Now, you can’t even play hymns at “mid-winter’s ....”
It figures that after 21 years of waiting for this day to arrive, the world would end on the very same day.
The world DID end today right? I mean, the government shut down, do it had to end, right?
The Senate Dems want spending mickle,
And putting the House in a pickle.
All part of the plan
With Obama ‘the Man’
To move towards the Hammer & Sickle
I hope you conquer your bug soon!
In the faux mickle disaster-
That mother of all distress
The only train off the rails
Is the Obamacare express
It pulled out of the station
With neither fuel or thought-
A poorly working website shows
The mob what they have bought
The coverage is just for those
Who send in a check, you see-
Otherwise fool, your ass gets fined-
Did you really think it was free?
It is 110 years to the day of the very first World Series game ever, played in Pittsburgh. The Pirates beat the team from Boston. Boston had some hack named Cy Young pitching.
Schadenfreude, schadenfreude-I have no sympathy whatsoever-it is not like the idiots weren’t warned to be careful what they wished for...
And I’m howling with glee-it goes a long way to making up for the economic hell caused to my work-and life-by these jerks to see them squirming and gasping in their own net...
What are Bucs?
I’m sorry that you are under the weather. I feared that the government shutdown caused the absence of Word for the Day! sarc/off
Feel better soon.
Last govt shutdown was 17 yrs ago. I live in suburban DC and world still turning round these parts.
Who is squirming and gasping? Cuz I’m not seeing it. This is a no win for us. Had to happen but Repubs will be blamed.
Well, here’s hoping you get soothed, Dave!
Bucs, buckos, buccaneers aka pirates.
