the passing of best-selling author Tom Clancy gave everyone an opportunity to reflect on the thrilling works and characters he created. Two days later, we're presented with the first trailer for the newest movie starring his best-known hero, CIA analyst Jack Ryan. <<
Too bad the movie isn't based on any of the Jack Ryan novels that Tom Clancy actually wrote.

But, the Hunt for the Red October was what brought Ryan into the field for the first time. Before that, he was an analyst. Can’t Hollywood resist screwing up everything it touches?
What’s next, the Adventures of Teen Jack Ryan?

A movie with a Clancy-created character not based on a Clancy novel? Can they do that? I was under the impression that after
The Sum of All Fears fiasco that Clancy said, "No more" to Hollywood (for screwing up his novel in a way he did not appreciate).
How about some (more) movies with John Clark? I like Willem Dafoe, but I'd like someone a bit more "believable" as Clark, who's supposed to be a big, imposing dude.
