(CBS News) An NYPD undercover detective has now been arrested in connection with an attack on a family in an SUV by a group of motorcyclists, reports CBS News' John Miller.

The officer is expected to be charged with criminal mischief for allegedly banging on and breaking the rear window of the SUV. The detective waited four days before coming forward to the NYPD and he allegedly made false statements about his involvement, reports Miller.

“Gee, Chief, I was just maintaining my cover.”

Nothing’ll happen.

This guy wasn’t undercover, he was a part of the problem.

Where is the “Whore of NYC” Bloomberg? Haven’t heard a peep out of him since the incident took place. How about the “Whore in Charge of NYC Police” Kelley? Haven’t heard a peep out of him since the incident took place. 300 gansta wannabee motorcyclists running through the city causing mischief and mayhem and no NYC SWAT Team or Tactical Response Teams activated to counteract the crime wave. 911 calls being ignored while NYC cops are negotiating free rides on the city’s ample supply of prostitutes (equal opportunity male and female), extorting coffee and doughnuts, or terrorizing citizens with >20 oz. sugary drinks.

Sounds satisfying. But best forgo the pleasure and put it between the eyes. He can’t sue you afterwards. I imagine mushy brains all over the sidewalk might have an impact on some of his fellow scum.

Good morning. It appears you are correct on the latter point and may be right on the undercover point. Big question for me is the circumstances by which he was indentified in the press as being undercover, a fact apparently not denied by officials. If he wasn't investigating the biker's, such a revelation would be highly unusual.

any decent human being seeing a family attacked by a gang would yell things like “sh*t people have out their camera phones!!” or “Hey they are all calling 911 leave this dirt bag alone.” but he not only did not warn his “friends but he did not try to find a way to help...all in the name of “bigger issues” those issues are how we got Whitey Bolger on the FBI payroll.

…those issues are how we got Whitey Bolger on the FBI payroll.

Quite right, but lets see what his defense counsel comes up with before we conclude those issues apply to the present facts. I think it is possible that he may not have been on undercover assignment anywhere, but simply was known to wear street clothes during duty hours – and a sloppy press went with it.

I have not watched any video of the event, and do not know if any video recorded any statements he may have made.

Let me say I am not knee-jerk endorsing this guy at all, and was quite pleased to see how the movie “Arbitrage” ended for the slimeball detective.
