The T-6 Texan is one heck of a plane; even stood in for the Mitsubishi Zero in “Tora! Tora! Tora!”.

T-6’s were also used in South Vietnam in 1957 to 59 as fighter bombers for close air support. They sported 4x50 cal guns and could drop two napalm canisters.

This is the plane my dad learned to fly in as a cadet at NAS Corpus Christi in 1942, and one he later flew in as an instructor pilot down in Pensacola...where one of his students was James Stockdale.
