Who shut down the government?

How to tell who shut down the government.

I've sent this to everyone I can think of but people still can't seem to figure who wanted to shut down the government. Here tis, the easy way......

Find out how long before the government shutdown the shutdown signs were printed. On the very HOUR the government shutdown happened, literally thousands of signs were available all over the country to close the government parks. That means somebody ordered the signs printed and shipped WEEKS before the shutdown. They had to be ordered ahead of time with the proper wording and paid for through government procurement. I don't think the congress could have done this. If the government didn't close, they would have been stuck with thousands of boxes of useless signs.

Our parks, our resources, our memorials, our repair contracts, our strategic oil reserves, our gold reserves, and finally - our government wasn’t shut down.

It was repossessed.

And Jack Lew used “extraordinary measures” over at treasury to have the debt “crisis” coincide with the shutdown. Coincidence, I don’t think so. This is Obama’s. He owns it.

Any manager worth his salt would have planned for this. If they hadn’t planned for it, I would want them fired.

The .pdf of the signs was probably created weeks before. Printing would be easy and fast.

I have no problem with the staffs being prepared.

Fair enuff, but Obama is still a crap leader. His job is to deal with the congress he has, not the congress he wants. The GOP requests were reasonable....not arson as he claims. At the very least they were good starting points for negotiation. Obama has no clue how to lead. This is just fact. He truly believes the half of the country he doesn’t politically agree with are to be ignored...humiliated...done away with. This is nuts in a democracy.

To me his message is simple: Agree with his plans to financially ruin the country or else he’ll ruin the country even faster. One of these days the Dems unrealistic approach to finances is going to catch up to us. Someone will write a book about it and Obama’s picture will be on the cover. There will alo be several chapters featuring Boener, Bush, Reid, and Pelosi. It

See reply #62 on this thread. I posted an email I got from another former military member. Se discussed this in emails the other day.

Lincoln Memorial ‘Barry-cade’ breached again(10/14); Park Police order area cleared [pics]
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3078870/posts

Here is the body of the email.

Something to think about.

Did anyone besides me wonder how they got all those signs printed and distributed far and wide, including to all the national parks and cemeteries overseas only eight to ten hours after the government shut down? Take a look at this from someone who wanted to remain anonymous.

I have worked in the government on and off for 40 years. During that time I became quite familiar with requisitions, bidding, awarding contracts etc. It is a time consuming process with bean-counters and pencil-necked bureaucrats every step of the way. The simplest request takes months not days or hours.

In less than 8 hours of the shutdown, miraculously, professionally printed 3X4 foot signs appeared all over the country in the tens of thousands saying-“this [park, facility, etc. with custom logos] closed due to government shutdown.

There has not been a government shutdown in 17 years. These signs were designed, specifications were determined, signs were then requisitioned, bids were posted and vetted, government contracts were awarded. The materials were then ordered and the signs manufactured then distributed U.S. Mails or freight companies.

This shutdown was orchestrated and planned well in advance at least 6-8 months ago. Millions of tax dollars were appropriated and spent in this process. There is a paper trail a mile long leading directly to the White House.

Or they could’ve just left the open outdoor monuments remain open instead of spending money that they claim not to have to hide “services”.

A .pdf of the sign isn’t enough for the government. It was professionally printed on hardback paper, not copy paper from a local printer. Nothing gets done in government that isn’t planned and “procured”. It has to be approved and paid for. During Viet Nam we had B-52’s grounded because they had a broken knob on a radio or some other instrument and the knob was custom made in some god forsaken factory with 10 employees that charged $119.00 for a 20 cent knob. The B-52 stayed grounded until we robbed a knob off another plane more damaged or we waited for the knob to be replaced. A $1.00 knob from radio shack would have done the trick, but that’s not how the gubmint rolls. To get these special signs with certain verbiage on them, I’m sure had to be decided on through some committee and then appropriated would have taken at least weeks.

I used to work at a large bank. It was the bank that would come into your small New England town and take over the bank you used as a child.

Generally on a long weekend (Columbus Day or Washington’s birthday most often) we would “merge” this bank into computer system.

Now, most of the time these mergers went without a hitch. Once they did not. We had to extend our shut down time.

From that date forward we included several new signs in our “package.” Those signs were printed in medium quantities and kept in storage until they were needed (if they were needed.)

We never used them again during my tenure. But, they are probably still there. Looking as fresh as the day they were printed. They could have them printed at a local PIP shop in about 4 hours.

I know you want to think that these guys had this all planned out. Well, to a certain degree, they have had it planned out. But you are thinking these is some master cabal in DC that did all of this in secret.

If you worked for me and you had not prepared your staff and signage for this possibility, I would fire you.

If you did not have the right button for your B52, I would make sure you did not ever rise above the rank you were today.

Its called management. Many folks have never seen decent management.

I am not defending Obama. I am simply saying that good managers plan for these things. And not every manager in the government is an idiot.

No argument from me on this. I would loved to have been in the Nat Parks office and seen who was for this, and who was against this. I know somewhere there is a memo suggesting this is a bad idea. It will surface after this is all over when the House starts looking for someone to blame. Some mid level manager in the NP Department will cover his ass using it.

That will be fun to watch.

You are comparing a private bank with the government. Not even on the same planet. Have you ever seen or even worked for or with the government? The government has employees that have been absent more then half their career saying they had to be absent because they worked for the CIA. They were actually at their vacation home drawing pay.

The idea of saving money or working efficiently while employed in government is a foreign idea. The very reason a government employee cannot be fired is they can't find work in the real world. Just as an quick example, government trucks needed to check in so they bought them laptops with cell phone modems so they could check in from anywhere. They spent the money and then found out that the trucks were mostly running in rural areas with no cell signal. So the employees would have to drive for miles to get to areas that had a signal and even then the signal would drop out as they tried to send data. No one even bothered to check to see if the plan worked before buying tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment. There were literally hundreds of such lame ideas and decisions made. Another was to install GPS in each truck at the cost of thousands per truck and pay to have them tracked. When the employee wanted to go home for lunch or who knows what else, they disconnected the power plug that was hidden under the hood. When signal was lost they sent a tech from almost 200 miles away to find out what was wrong. The GPS was plugged back in and no problem found. After a few times they replaced the unit for even more cost. The whole purpose for the program was to prevent employees from taking excessive breaks and going out of their area. If every employee screwed off 2 hours a day it would have been cheaper to pay them than maintain the GPS system. Up until then the boss watched the drivers. The problem with that was he was as bad if not worse than the employee's. He knew all the guys hiding places and would go discipline one every once in a while when he was being evaluated. It was a mess for decades.

Now, instead of the taxpayer going through all this, why not just contract the whole thing out and eliminate all of the salaries, health care, and retirement, along with the equipment cost and maintenance? Did anyone EVER do a cost analysis? NO! To eliminate a whole division would have affected the higher ups salaries and responsibilities and you know the idea of government is "WE MUST GET BIGGER!!! Saving money isn't even on the radar.

Yup, I worked for the government for several years. That is where I learned planning.

Without planning, you are lost.

I am not talking about contracts or every manager. Christ, there are 400,000 of them. They are not idiots.

But go ahead and believe your conspiracy theories. If that is what you need to hate them.

I don’t hate them. I just think they are deluded. And the people WE elect think just for themselves and how much they can bring back to their districts in order to keep their jobs.

We need to eliminate the seniority system in Congress. But that will NEVER, ever happen.

It isn't a conspiracy theory, that's just the culture of government EVERYWHERE. What happens is someone gets an idea, good or bad, doesn't matter. They send it to the underlings to figure out how to make it happen. Sooner or later, someone from on high says "Damn the cost!", and it gets done with a kludgy makeshift plan with holes as big as the Titanic. Then they spend the life of the idea making changes.

That describes ObamaCare to a tee. They now have it "working". Never mind it's a disaster. Now we don't have the votes to kill it, but we will have the votes to change it, so for the next 10 years we will cut this and add that until doctors are working for the government and people with no job on food stamps get care for their stab wounds for free. Business will shrink and move overseas and more middle class will slump to the poor class. Every time we try to make it better they will invoke the poor that we are throwing under the bus and the program will just get bigger. All the while the debt goes toward $25 trillion and no end in sight. Eventually the Ponzi scheme reaches apex and we end up like the Soviet Union. The sheep will end up on the curb crying they have no housing, no healthcare, no food, no pension, collapsed money, poverty and death. That is the system of government. It takes power until it collapses. It always happens because government leaders, don't manage money like the person would, they stole it from. A private business goes broke long before these problems get that bad. People that can't be fired and people that get bonuses for screwing up losing BILLIONS, cannot by definition ever succeed. $67 million was LOST by the IRS and NO ONE even knows what happened to it. Has anyone been arrested? Anyone fired? Anyone demoted? Anyone even chewed out?

You have much more faith in government than I have. IMO, The Dems planned the shutdown, ordered the signs weeks ahead, and then shut down the government because they knew the media would blame Repubs. I will jump to that conclusion until someone checks when the signs were ordered and paid for. They didn't store the signs for 17 years from the last shutdown. If nobody checks, there is a reason for that.
