These public schools - do they still have history textbooks? Assuming they do, are there any illustrations of various conflicts from history? Any paintings of the battle of Gettysburg, maybe, or perhaps “The Shot Heard ‘round the World”? Do any of these illustrations include depictions of actual weapons, or is everyone holding flowers and other inoffensive items?
You should have seen the armaments I provided for the airplanes I used to draw as a little kid......
You are kidding me Servo! That looks like a bomb from a Bugs Bunny cartoon!
Actually the kid has some talent and may have a future at Warner Brothers.
All the videos were creepy, and it’s hard to pick the creepiest, but the third one - the one that starts with the girl singing solo - somehow seemed like the worst one.
My favorite Roadrunner bit is when Wile E. Coyote paints a fake railroad tunnel on a rock wall. The Roadrunner then runs right through like it’s a real tunnel, but when Wile E. Coyote tries to follow, it is once again a rock wall and he slams into it. While Wile E. Coyote is sitting there dazed, a train then comes OUT of the tunnel and runs him over.
The school administrators will not be happy with this kid until he is sent to the federal penitentiary, for life!
It's related to that - but a little more specific. Zero tolerance is the only way they can deal with the black kids - who engage in a huge percentage of the total disruptive behavior - without looking racist.
How the event should have been handled.
Teacher: Rhett, is it possible for me to please have your drawing and hang it on my refrigerator at home? I would love to have it and be proud to show it to my GD. [Teacher takes a photo of the drawing on her fridge with phone camera and shows it to Rhett the next day.]
Rhett: Sure, cool. You’d do that?
Teacher: [in a VERY private moment with Rhett] Listen buddy, when kids make bomb pictures, gun pictures, army/war pictures, finger guns.....everyone gets into BIG trouble.
My boss, the school has rules I must follow; I must report your drawing to my boss the principal. [no need to explain the notion of *mandated reporter* to the kid] In turn, he must write a report b/c his boss wants to know about who might make pictures/gestures that scare some people. I’m not going to follow this rule because you didn’t know about it, and I know you are a good kid, who always follows the rules.
I know it sounds crazy, but that’s the way it is, buddy. You didn’t know about this rule. I know you would never try to scare anyone. But we are going to take care of it privately, just you and me, K?
I’m going to call momma and tell her we took care of it; I promise she will not punish you or me. That’s the end of it, K?
Shake on it? Cool. {{{Hugs}}}
If necessary, teacher takes the kids who *saw* the image aside and tell them the situation with Rhett. Most kids would be understanding. They need to know, and teacher, by reputation and trust previously built, will have them know, *what happens in my classroom, stays in my classroom.*
Done. Sans drama. Nobody gets hurt. A *teaching* moment. Heh.
They wouldn’t even let the kid finish his drawing.
0 tolerance = intolerance
Which means 0 mercy, 0 justice, 0 context, 0 truth

There are all sorts of pumpkin decorating ideas put out this time of year. Lots of creative stuff with paint and accessories, no carving required. Hmmm, round pumpkin + black paint + string and pompom...
... probably would be SWAT-magnet decor in this day and age.
How sad. An autistic kid being taught by retards.
Seems like such a simple image, although I know I couldn’t do anything that looked that good! Hope someone sees it on the net and hires him part-time.
Bet he would’ve gotten an award if it had been a drawing of an Islamic suicide bomb vest.
