I used to get off of work sometimes in the morning (service calls in the middle of the night or whatever).

So, sometimes at 7am, I would fire up the grill with my toddler son hanging with me in the yard, and crack a few beers while the meat cooked. Waving to my neighbors as they headed off to work. Everyone once in awhile, one would stop buy for a steak sammich for the ride to the city.

My son, being my son, loved to crush the beer cans under foot. He also liked to emulate his dad, and put the empty beer cans up to his mouth before doing so. He also would walk around with my cigar butts in his mouth. And he would drive his pedal car down the sidewalk with a cigar butt hanging from his mouth, twin holsters on his hips, cap guns, cowboy hat, and cowboy boots... all in a diaper and nothing else, lol Getting laughs from the neighbors. He also played “gasp” ARMY!!!!! He and his friends running around shooting caps at each other, and they all would come and empty my ashtray of cigar butts, biting down hard on them, while they did their best to storm the beaches of my yard.

Now, in this day in age, I would probably be put in jail. But, I saw nothing wrong with it. The kid was just being a kid, hanging out with his pops. Cruisin the yard in his diaper, with an empty beer can and an unlit cigar butt in his mouth.

Moments I will cherish for ever. I have some photos of this routine, and I still am heartwarmed when we break out the photo albums.

I must be some sort of Ogre...
