From the North East.
Maryland.
I lived in Texas for a while back in the 80s and all the news broadcasters had northern accents. Seems that there are some careers where people actively seek to eliminate the accent.
Obama is just hiring marxist acedemics like himself and it doesn’t matter where they’re from.
I don’t know about that, but I’m sure there are some Martin Owe’Malley-worshipping henchmen in there.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
They seem to be overwhelmingly Demoncraps.
The political class needs to be culled via Term Limits, and their lap dog apparatchik Federal Workers comprised of lazy bums stealing a paycheck to push paper around and take 100 days a year off at taxpayer expense must be stopped cold.
It’s high time DC is put in check by the States.
The only viable strategy going forward is to wage class war against the parasite class and target the Washingtonians from both parties that are entrenched in safe Districts.
Of course, the propagandist press must be dealt with.
Putin in Russia just shoots any “reporter” that gets out of line.
The CPUSA here is firmly entrenched in the media and supports the domestic marxists 1000%.
They are enjoying salad days, but their time of reckoning is fast approaching.
How many are Christian? How many are former veterans? How many are from MA, PA, NJ, and N? Maybe you should sew some arm bands?
Folks in DC lose their local accents fast. If the native Virginians here have southern accents, I’ve grown deaf to them. Very few DC folks from SC-NC-GA-AL-MS-AR-TN-LA-KY stretch of states, although I know several with sharp accents from TX.
I think there has been a moratorium on hiring white males since 2007.
It is common for people to take classes to lose their accent, especially if they are from the south and trying to advance with the feds or a large corporation. Flyover country accents are supposed to indicate a lack of intelligence, or something like that. You will probably be considered some kind of redneck tea party racist homophobe woman hater bitter clinger too.
I’ve lived in the DC area for 37 years; I’m self employed.
When I started working back in 1977 (with a firm that consults with clients about federal matters), most of the people in the government that I dealt with came from the south; Washington was to people from Virginia, West Virginia and the Carolinas what Detroit was to people from Kentucky and Tennessee. There were a few people like me who came from the midwest. I worked for three attorneys; one of whom was a native Washingtonian; another came from Bellaire, Ohio (across the river from Wheeling, WV) and the third came from Idaho.
People are here from all over the country. The lawyers who dominate the plum jobs in the government come from the top law schools, which are principally in the Washington-DC-Phila-NYC-Boston corridor (throw in Michigan, Chicago, Stanford and Boalt Hall to that list).
There are plenty of liberals in the south. And as far as I know, democrats have always gravitated to government jobs. That’s why we are overtaxed and get crappy service.
