He had some great teams with the Oilers, featuring one Earl Campbell . Unfortunately Pittsburgh was at its best then and the Oilers couldn’t get past them.

Despite the rivalry between the Oilers and the Steelers, Phillips was well respected, maybe even loved, by Steeler fans. He was a colorful guy, but he was class act.
Rest in peace, Bum Phillips.
