I simply tell them, “Too many years on small stages, with the drummer’s cymbals in one ear or the other. I played sitting down. Pedal steel. Terrible tinnitis from the ride cymbals.
LOL! I keep thinking the phone is ringing. I guess that’s why some guitar player came up with the idea of putting a plexiglass cage around the drummers these days. We would toss the drummer treats like a little monkey.
