I saw one at a gun show for about $700 and was interested in buying it but didn’t really know enough about Springfield ‘03s to make a decision at the time. I know some of the earlier ones have receivers that are not properly heat treated and not safe to shoot (i.e. wall hangers).
You’re probably better off buying at $700 than trying to put one together.
I’ve got a low SR# WWI Springfield, never had a live round fired through it except possibly for testing.
My old man got it after WWII.
They were passed out to be used for the burial ceremonies after WWII.
