That’s a little flip, if you don’t mind. It is more correct to say that there is a reason some people are flipping burgers for their whole life and that reason is inside the individual.

Darn tootin. A lot of us, if not most, have flipped ‘em for a job. But I’ll bet not a single FReeper ever contemplated doing it for a decade, for any wage. I’d sooner put a bullet in my head.

Yes, customer-facing customer service jobs like McDonalds are meant to be "entry-level". This is low-skill work and intended to give young people some skills to find something better.
Now something better might very well be staying at McDonalds and working your way up to shift manager, store manager and then maybe being a District or Regional manager. But certainly it is not intended that you can or should make a living out of slinging fries or taking orders at the drive-thru.
