My husband and I just started watching TWD a few weeks ago for the first time. We watched all the past three seasons on Netflix and got hooked. We will be getting caught up on the new season four on AMC on demand. When he started watching the first episodes, I was in the breakfast nook on the computer so all I could hear was the growls, screams, bashing, yelling, horse screams, etc. It grossed me out just hearing it and I had no desire to watch zombie movies. But around episode three, I started watching and I was in. We viewed two or three episodes a night which brings us to the new season.

Although the scenes are graphic and gross - and some nights I couldn't get them out of my head - the acting is what really pulled me in. I like how the characters have developed from where they started out. Carol, for example, went from being a timid, beaten-down wife, to a strong and capable woman who never loses her mothering spirit. I especially like Darryl, who I think has advanced the most in character and his humanity. He surprised me.

If you have a ping list, please add me to it as we will definitely be watching this new season.

I still think the first episode was the best.

Season 1 on Netflix is how I got hooked, too.

LOL

Haven’t missed an episode since.

Hubby and I also watch The Talking Dead, which is a discussion group talking about that night's episode. It usually has someone from the episode as a guest, and then a couple of other people, some associated with the show and, also, just fans.

Anyway, it is very lighthearted and funny; and, this helps me "come down" from the gruesomeness of the episode. I know what you mean about it staying in your head; so, I find a little lighter fare afterward helps.
