Health care and a free set of steak knives

We break from normal programming to enjoy a few words from our sponsor ... aaaand, take it away Barry!

“Roll up, roll up, roll up. Yes folks, it’s the greatest little health-care scheme in the world!

“Step right this way and you’ll be amazed, yes amazed I say, at its breadth, its scope, its quality. It’s just what you’ve all been waiting for.

“It’s bright, it’s new, it’s Obamacare and it’s coming to an online portal near you ... Um, sometime soon ... No, really, it is.”

Well, OK, he didn’t say that, but U.S. President Barack Obama sure sounded like he was pitching something during his 27-minute infomercial from the Rose Garden last week.

All he needed was a hat and cane — perhaps a free set of steak knives — rather than a fainting acolyte in the background and the look would have been complete.

Yes, that bright morning saw one of the most transparent sales jobs in presidential history, a grandiose appeal over the heads of the White House press corps directly to the people themselves.

That’s why there were no questions taken immediately afterwards; when this president is selling, he doesn’t like to be interrupted by those who might call him to account.

Obama’s message?

Forget the clunky website. Use the phone instead if you want to sign up for government-subsidized insurance before the deadline hits.

He advised the frustrated millions to check out the update on Healthcare.gov and learn how to buy insurance “the old-fashioned way — offline.”

“So you’ll find information about how to talk to a specialist who can help you apply over the phone or to receive a downloadable application you can fill out yourself and mail in,” Obama said.

Which is a helluva way to run a country.

Barack Obama took half a billion dollars worth of taxpayer money to start a website to deliver better health care options and then told people to ignore it.

Just amazing.

All that political capital spent, all that whining tone of presidential complaint, all that pouting from the man who leads the most powerful nation on earth; all he can do with his signature piece of legislation is tell people to go elsewhere.

What a tone-deaf leader Barack Obama has become and what a dangerous legacy he promises to leave.

Forget cash for clunkers and the millions splashed on California-based solar panel manufacturer Solyndra that went spectacularly bust, socializing medicine in the U.S. was a key part of Obama’s re-election platform. Now it is failing. Big time and very publicly.

As for the website problems themselves, it’s fair to say they confirm that success has a thousand fathers — and presumably mothers — but failure is an orphan.

Here’s what Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, said Thursday when asked yet again about this epic failure to deliver on a core election promise.

“We did not know until the problems manifested themselves after the launch that they would be as significant as they have turned out to be.”

Well, duh.

What is certain is that if Obamacare fails, so will this president and his party.

We now return you to our regular programming.

What is certain is that if Obamacare fails, so will this president and his party.

It is a forgone conclusion that ObamaCare will fail.

Everything Obama touches is a failure. (and I am not saying that to be mean)

Oh come on, now. They’re not that heartless. I’m sure you could get a family member to do it for you.

An interesting piece from a Canadian newspaper.Does the author know that Osama Obama went on record some time before he became President that his *real* dream for the US is Canada Care? But,he said at the time,it would take ten or fifteen years to achieve it.ObamaCare is Step #1 in the march toward his dream.IOW,ObamaCare was *designed* to fail so that, once it’s been realized that it has,the ‘progressives” can claim that Canada care is the only alternative.

I lived in Canada for a time and just returned to the USA a couple of months ago. As a legal CA resident, I was required by CA federal law to have the CA equivalent of a social security card and to be covered under the provincial health insurance plan. My employer had a private supplementary policy as part of the benefits package. To correct an imprecision in some of the comments, the government health plan is actually a provincial health plan that varies in cost and breadth from one province to another. I think the CA feds require the provinces to have a plan then sets minimum standards for the contents.

I have cataracts and at some point will be getting corrective surgery. I wanted to update myself on medical technologies and see what would be available in CA and how the logistics of it would work out. First point is availability in CA. To use the provincial plan there is a waiting list, not sure how long but you have to wait. One troubling thing is in Ontario, the quota for number of funded surgeries was used up by November or so. Next point was technology options. Let's say there are 5 technology options with no. 1 being low cost antiquated and 5 being the latest and greatest. What I found is that 1 to 3 were all that was available in CA and to get the most advanced 4 and 5 technologies I had to go to the US.

This is the kind of quality that Obamacare will lower us to.

Here is a classic example of "American Exceptionalism" available in the medical community that will be lost in Socialized medicine.
INNOVATION !!

as well as RESEARCH and DEVELOPEMENT !!
Socialism provides no motivation or incentivizing for innovation. .. just medical "sheeple" of doing the best we can with what we have ...
