Word For The Day, Monday, 10/28/13

;

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

imprimatur; noun

1. an official license to print or publish a book, pamphlet, etc., especially a license issued by a censor of the Roman Catholic Church. Compare nihil obstat. 2. sanction or approval; support: Our plan has the company president's imprimatur.

Etymology: Origin: 1630–40; < Neo-Latin: let it be printed, Latin: let it be made by pressing upon (something); see impress1

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

George Soros gave his imprimatur
To Obama, a socialist plotter
When their Maker is met
It’s for sure they won’t get
Into Heaven, but someplace much hotter

I am not now and not ever going to get the imprimatur of, or “a license issued by a censor of the Roman Catholic Church” for the books I have written. But that doesn’t surprise me.

Maybe if I had put some clothes on the guy ...

Well, we’ll never know, will we?

"yeah, they aren’t big on porn for some reason"

You know, neither am I, now.

Kinda glad I got that out of my system. Let me know when the Word For The Day will be "cathartic".

Is your puppy doing well?

It used to be that imprimatur
From one with gravitas or fame
Could assure credibility to
A bill or a law with the name

Thanks to Obama and his minions
That has taken an opposite turn-
Any backing from their messiah
Will cause it to crash and burn

Like the unraveling Obamacare mess-
The website-from-hell and high cost
Have voters wishing its namesake
Would shut up, go away and get lost

While I'm not sure if this still awaits the imprimatur of the courts, but it looks like Detroit's pensioners will get 16 cents on the dollar.

Funny how he grabs all power possible, but never knows what any of his departments are doing.

Sabres' owner Terry Pegula apparently put his imprimatur on the blockbuster trade of Thomas Vanek to the Isles for Moulson + a couple high draft picks.

I didn't see this happening so soon; Vanek was bound for UFA anyway, maybe it's better value now. Interesting too that it took place just prior to Lindy Ruff's return to the Arena tonight coaching for the Stars ...
